I am a person who tends to be quite forward and honest, and sometimes I really wish I had a better filter before I blurted out exactly whats on my mind. There is obviously good and bad ways to tell people things that might upset them. Megan is behind the blog Vintage me oh my, and she has figured out a really nice way to say a kind of bad thing: you smell! She has made a line of soaps all rapped in a cute packaging, with the provocative text «you smell» in the front and the fun and informative text on the back: «…like a lemon.» I love Megan’s concept and if you do too, please visit kickstarter and support her project!
So the holiday madness has begun, and as usual I have set the bar high for my self – trying to making all the gifts by hand… I can’t reveal what it is quite yet, cause I know a lot of my friends and family read this blog, but I promise I will show you what I’ve made after christmas. Until then I though I could show you another inspiration to how you can make your own gifts. Imaginaria Creative have made these jars of “Happy Holipeños”. Not only have they made the spice-mix inside but they made these really nice labels as well. Great inspiration for a hot and hand-crafted gift!
RNLI: Lifeboats by Supafrank>
It summer and nothing is better than being at the sea on a sunny day. Design agency SupaFrank was hired to remind and illustrate just that, on the packaging of the RNLI – a charity that saves lives at sea. SupaFrank made the illustrations for chocolate, biscuit and candy packaging’s, making the day at sea even sweeter and also reminding us to be safe on water. I love the design and the nostalgic feeling it awakes – and on top of that I think the message is good and important, especially considering all the boat accidents we’ve had in Norway lately.
One of the things I miss the most from the years I lived in Italy is the gelato. Nothing compeers to the Italian ice cream, especially not from Chocolat in Milan. I don’t know if these Italian ice-creams on a stick can compete with that, but I must say I am curios and hopeful. Bar Gelato is made from California based Gelateria Naia, with a perfect packaging design from Danish born, Portland based designer Mette Hornung Rankin. The packaging is really simple and elegant, and it showcase the delicious ice-cream in a delicate and retro-chic way. Anyone know where I can have one of these in Norway?
The Italian designer Mattia Castiglioni has a lot of interesting stuff in his (or maybe its hers) portfolio. One of the projects I really like is the wine label, Ego. The graphic profile made for this wine is not only a fun use of naming, but it has incorporated the playfulness in all aspect – the abstract fonts, the reflecting mirror, the compositions of the label and the strong colors. I hope the taste of this wine is as big as its ego…
