Make Room

concept inspiration

So in the spirit of sharing stuff I will now present an idea to you all. This is actually a business idea I’ve been working on for quite some time, and I have realized that in order for this to see the light of day I need a partner and a companion to help me. Make Room is an idea for a kind of design-hub in Oslo, and as the name indicates this is an initiative to make room for young designers and creatives. The idea is to have a space that combines a workshop area, a material library, and a social arena. I presented this idea for Oslo SpaceCollective on monday, and it really feels like theres a lot of people interested in seeing this come to life in Oslo now. Take a look at my presentation after the jump and if you want to make this happen with me, please contact me at [email protected]

Michelberge Hotel, Berlin

concept interior

Last weekend I spent walking around in wonderful Berlin, just absorbing the creative lifestyle, the big buildings and dining in great restaurants. A big bonus to the trip was staying at the cool hotel Michelberger. Even before we arrived, my expectations to the hotel was set high, based on the impression of the floating space shuttle with weird animations on their webpage. But the weird and cute didn’t disappoint in real life either… they where hidden all over the hotel as small messages on the shampoo bottle, by playing The Big Lebowski over and over again in the hallways, and by their minimal, raw and young interior design. The only thing that didn’t deliver was the service – which at times felt a bit arrogant. But Michelberger is definitely a great place to stay if you want to have a unique experience in a hotel, at the same times as you get to visit the great city of Berlin.

PopSpots

concept events

For those of you who follows PlayMeDesign on facebook or twitter – you probably seen me writing about participating in Global Sustainability Jam this weekend. Not only did I have a lot of fun, collaborating with a group of amazing people – but we managed to create something I am really proud of.

We wanted to create a service that rewarded the walkers, and encouraged them to choose walking over car or taxi also by night. Walking in the dark, especially in places like a dark ally or a park, (we have called these places blind spots) might feel unsafe and uncomfortable. We designed a service called PopSpots; by the use of your cell phone you can activated your surroundings and make it fun, playful and safe to walk at night.

Press read more to learn more about our idea, and to see the entire presentation.

Congratulation to Fuglen!

concept furnitures graphics interior

From Designers Day 2011:

One of the categories I was most exited about for the award of design excellency, was this years newcomer category: Services. I was happy to see that a small and charming coffee shop named Fuglen was one of the first two receivers of the award in this category. Fuglen is a coffee shop during the day, a cocktail bar at night and a full-time interior design store selling furniture and design objects from the 50s and 60s. In their retro-inspired design profile made by Rockberry, they’ve managed to integrate modern elements and technology such as Qr-codes. The design profile and the retro-feeling is implemented in all aspects – the interior, the website, the shop and the coffee bar. If your ever in Oslo, Fuglen is a place to visit!

Pino

concept graphics interior

Finally spring has started to arrive even i Norway, and I feel in desperate need of a colors. Pino is a fresh and colorful store from Finland, that really brought some color to my day! Pino sells unique, functional and innovative design objects and the idea for the concept came from the name of the shop, which means a ‘pile’ or ‘stack’ in Finnish. I love how the design and concept has been developed in both printed materials and interior by Bond Creative Agency, which gives it a playful, though trough and unique look. Take you Tine for the tip! More pictures after the jump….
