I finally have some vacation time but off course I’m out of luck when it comes to the weather. But when it’s a rainy summer day, nothing is better than going on a good exhibition. MomentumDesign is an exhibition dedicated to what happens in the cross-area between art and design, a subject I am really inspired by.
The exhibition itself is held in the beautiful old industrial buildings in Moss, and just to see the spectacular view of the harbour and the cellulose fabric is worth a visit. A great surprise to me was that I had already written about many of the exhibited works here on Playmedesign, so in one way it was great to see that my “trend spotting” is right on. It is exiting to see that design gets this kind of focus and appreciation in Norway, and I really think they have collected a good variety between interesting, fun, smart and special objects. Many of these objects balance on the thin line between art and design, and to exhibit them as design objects in an art museum is therefore really suiting.
The section of Hareide Design was not so impressive – although they’ve had great success, their work is not particularly interesting and many other Norwegian design offices has equally as interesting history as them.
The exhibition is opened until the 18th of October, so if you happen to be in the area of Moss, Norway I would strongly recommend a visit to MomentumDesign. In the next few post will present some of the works from the exhibition, which I have not yet written about here on playme…
